When it comes to mental health care and understanding the impact and universality of trauma, we’ve come a long way.

And maybe we’re not quite there as a society, but more and more people understand that our bodies must be a part of the healing process.

Because as humans, we’re very good at being in our heads. Most of us spend a looooot of time there! And yes, our minds are powerful, but without bringing our bodies along for the journey, we can only go so far.

People come to me for many reasons – anxiety, depression, burnout, intense & overwhelming emotions, sleeping issues, stress, navigating trauma recovery.

What’s often present at the root of it all? A deep sense of dis-connection and dis-empowerment.

Disconnection from

ourselves
our bodies
the people around us
all the parts of ourselves

Often we believe that

*if only* our circumstances were different,
*if only* we were better at _____ (exercising, eating “right”, managing our time, meditating, doing yoga, sleeping, etc),
*if only* we did things the right way,
*if only* we just pushed through the next week/month/year,

*then* we would just feel better.

Sometimes we feel like we are doing all the right things, and yet we still feel unsettled all the time or hijacked by our emotions.

Let me offer a different perspective.

We are humans and we experience a big range of emotions, and we feel them in our bodies.

Feeling better is not necessarily about feeling amazing all the time, it’s about changing our relationship
with the sensations we experience in our body.

The goal is to create safety in our bodies, so that we trust ourselves to handle what comes our way. And by “handle” I don’t mean to get rid of any difficult emotions or challenging times, I mean knowing that you’ll be OK on the other side.

With this approach, I bring together the tools of trauma-sensitive yoga therapy, an understanding of our own capacity and seeing through the impact of society and culture.

What happens during a session?

First of all I’m here to listen and hold space for you to share what you are experiencing and want support with.

I might ask you questions that don’t seem related to your symptoms, and that’s because I want to get the whole picture and fully understand what’s going on for you.

Based on our conversation, I’ll guide you through different practices, which could include movement, meditation, breathing, journaling, etc

Together, we’ll figure out what works, what doesn’t work, and create a plan for you to make these practices a part of your life, not just another thing to check off your to-do list.

That’s where the full benefits of yoga are found: in weaving it into your life, in a way that feels supportive, nourishing and affirming for you.

You’ll go home with a highly tailored practice for you to do on your own until our next session.

“I began working with Anne-Laure several months ago during a stressful chapter of family passages. With her thoughtful intuitive questions, recommended resources, and calm supportive demeanor, she provided tools to help me re-center and re-balance. Together, we’ve created a practice that works for me and one I can build upon. She’s an amazing and effective teacher.”

“Anne-Laure is absolutely wonderful. She really took the time to speak with me about what’s going on and to guide me through a yoga practice that I’m comfortable with. I highly recommend her!”

Laura

I went to Anne-Laure for yoga therapy and could not have been more pleased. I’m 60 years old and have had a lower back pain issue on and off for about two years. Her approach was physical with short restorative yoga sequences and she also tapped into the emotional and spiritual by introducing the root chakra philosophy into the mix.
I highly recommend ❤️
